Khao Lak is situated on the west coast of Thailand by the Andaman Sea, its formed of groups of small villages in the Takua Pa and Thai Mueang District of the Phang Nga Province.
Khao Lak translates to ‘Lak Mountain’ and it’s this mountain that is one of the main peaks in what is an extremely hilly region of the country. The jagged landscape and limestone hills are a major part of what makes Khao Lak a region of Phang Nga, such an amazing place to visit.
Khao Lak is much quieter than Phuket, a well-known tourist magnet further to the south of Thailand. When planning both your Phang Nga golfing holiday or Khao Lak golfing trip please consider the three seasons. The high season is from November to March, during this time you will more often experience the driest but coolest conditions to play golf in, even though the cool season still evaluates to warm weather.
The low season produces the hottest weather during April and May and even though the temperature is more humid, playing golf is still possible.
The most amount of rainfall appears between June and October, during this period tee times might have to be adjusted to accommodate missing the rainfall.
As much as the low season produces more rainfall it’s still possible to play golf during this period and accommodation rates are heavily discounted. To experience the perfect golf conditions, we recommend golfing in Khao Lak between the months of November and March.
To play golf in Khao Lak, you are required to fly directly into Phuket International Airport, then transfer 80km to Khao Lak which takes approximately 80 minutes by vehicle.
In the future with the new airport planned to be completed by 2031 close to Khao Lak, transfer times to hotels will be greatly reduced.
At all golf courses, early tee times are available from 7.00 am weekly, unless of any pre-organised competitions.
It’s highly recommended to try to finish your round before the midday heat, especially depending on the time of the year.
